I Wish I Had Gotten Help Sooner

I had an abortion because I was separated and thought the man I met really loved me. When he found out I suspected I was pregnant, he gave me the money and told me that I needed to get an abortion. I was 25 at the time, had a four year old child, and never thought of ever having an abortion, but Roe had just passed about a month before, and I felt that I had no alternative but to go to clinic. All alone and feeling so unloved, I did the worse thing in my life. My regrets have lived with me for more than 40 years! I don't know how I survived. It ended my relationship with this man and the pain has never left me. Although I received help almost 40 years after the fact through Rachel's Vineyard, I only wish that I would have gotten help sooner, because I suffered most of those 40 hears alone.

When I heard Fr. Frank Pavone speaking about Silent No More I wanted to let other women know that when you make a decision like this you have to find God's love and forgiveness so that you can survive, because without God there is no hope. Please seek help before you make the biggest mistake of your life and, if you have already made it, find help and share your experience so you can help others.
