Silent No More to mark Roe v. Wade anniversary with prayer and truth

Gathering in front of Supreme Court 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022

Mary Kominsky was a 17-year-old high school student in New Jersey in 1972 when a doctor at Planned Parenthood told her she was pregnant. Abortion was not yet legal in her state, so an appointment was made for her at a killing center across the Hudson River in New York City. She took a bus to end the life of her child. She was a different person by the time she boarded the bus for the ride home.

“Following the procedure, I was deeply traumatized as fear became guilt and shame,” she said. “After an abortion, the body remembers.”

Mrs. Kominsky’s child would be 50 years old this year, one year older than the Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal throughout the country.

To mark the Jan. 22 anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, a project of Anglicans for Life and Priests for Life, will gather by the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court from 9 to 11 a.m. to talk about the many ways legal abortion and the right to choose have negatively impacted their lives. Mrs. Kominsky will be among those offering testimony.

“The women and men of Silent No More give their testimony every year during the March for Life, and they will again this year, but we also wanted to mark the actual anniversary of the Roe v. Wade tragedy,” said Priests for Life Executive Director Janet Morana, co-founder of Silent No More.

“We will gather also to pray to make abortion unthinkable to anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy,” said Anglicans for Life President Georgette Forney, Silent No More co-founder. “We also will pray for healing for everyone who has lost a child to abortion – mothers, fathers, grandparents, everyone who has been impacted by what legal abortion has done to our nation and our world.”

The co-founders and members of Silent No More will be available for interviews during and after the gathering. To set up another time for a one-on-one interview, call Leslie Palma at 917-697-7039 or email her at leslie@priestsforlife.org

Priests for Life is the world’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated exclusively to ending abortion. For more information, visit www.EndAbortion.US.
