The Silent No More Awareness (SNMA) Campaign is an effort to make the public aware of the emotional, physical and spiritual harm abortion brings to women, men, and their families. It is a joint effort of Priests for Life and Anglicans for Life with a national and international presence. SNMA reaches out to women and men who are hurting after an abortion to inform them that help is available through post-abortion healing programs such as Rachel’s Vineyard. They also invite women and men to share their personal testimonies about the truth of abortion’s consequences and their subsequent healing. SNMA wants to expose and heal the secrecy and silence of abortion’s harmful aftermath and provide hope to others in order to help others avoid the pain and suffering of abortion. They believe this effort is instrumental in making abortion unthinkable and unacceptable for anyone to recommend as a “fix” for an unplanned pregnancy. SNMA puts a face to abortion and they want to persuade society that women deserve better than abortion.
Nicole Peck, Regional Coordinator, became involved in SNMA because she had an abortion as a teenager. After her abortion, she was never able to conceive a child, the result of her abortion coupled with her family medical history. She was never advised that infertility could be a consequence of abortion. Yet, God has turned a young woman’s uninformed “choice” into a great blessing. She is married and has an adopted son, John Paul, whom they adopted on Mother’s Day, 2007. She has been involved in pro-life ministry, Missionaries for Life, since 2000, giving her abortion witness in various venues across Connecticut and the country. She wants to bring hope and healing to those suffering after an abortion and prevent other young woman from making the same “choice”.
Nicole encourages post-abortive women, men and others to attend SNMA gatherings and events. “We especially need the prayer support from others during the public gatherings. My prayer is that men and women will have the courage to step forward in whatever capacity the Lord is leading them and be healed and restored. With 10,000+ abortions performed in Connecticut annually, it’s important that post-abortive women and men speak out. There is no need to suffer in silence and secrecy. Hope and healing is available to anyone who has had an abortion. As hearts are softened and changed through our testimonies, one day abortion will be unthinkable for anyone in an unplanned pregnancy.” said Nicole.
SNMA in Connecticut urges post-abortive women, men and others to join us at the State Capital in Hartford on September 7, 2008.
