Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion reaches out to moms in May

Silent No More Awareness Campaign

Tuesday, May 8, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact:  Leslie Palma - 732-757-9087

Mother’s Day can be the hardest day of the year for women who have lost children to abortion. This month, Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion, an initiative of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, focuses attention on mothers who regret their abortions.

Healing resources, prayers, inserts for church bulletins, preaching tips and more can be found at AbortionShockwaves.com.

“For 16 years Silent No More has been working with women who have had abortions,” said Janet Morana, co-founder of the Campaign and executive director of Priests for Life. “We know that moms who regret their abortions can suffer emotionally for years and even decades until they can acknowledge the source of their pain and seek healing. Programs like Rachel’s Vineyard have helped more than 100,000 women find solace and comfort in an environment that supports them while honoring their lost children.”

Noting that May 13 begins National Women’s Health Week, Georgette Forney, co-founder of Silent No More and president of Anglicans for Life, said popular culture insists that abortion is free of consequences and liberating for women.

“Although the pro-abortion movement insists most women feel only relief after an abortion, “ she said, “the continuing growth of healing programs and the thousands of testimonies on the Silent No More site are evidence that abortion hurts women.

“We want every mom who has had an abortion to know we care about her and we know how to help her,” Mrs. Forney said.

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life and pastoral director of Silent No More, called upon clergy to get on board with Shockwaves and help spread the message.

“Many women who come to church every Sunday are hiding the pain and shame of an abortion wound,” he said. “Silence does not interpret itself. It’s time to speak up about abortion, so we can give them the courage to seek the peace of Christ and the welcome of his Church.”

Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion launched in 2015 with the aim of focusing each month on a different group of people impacted by abortion, while also emphasizing how the wounds to each group are interconnected, and how the healing of each group advances the healing of the others.

Visitors to .AbortionShockwaves.com can click on “May” and then “Healing Resources” to find programs nearby that can help. Those who have been healed are invited to join the Silent No More Awareness Campaign at any level they feel comfortable, even if it just registering their regret for the role they played in the abortion.
