You Don't Forget
Carol
Alabama, United States

I will be silent no more.

I was 16 years old when I had the abortion. My parents divorced, and I became promiscuous. I found myself pregnant and thought he loved me. Guys will tell you anything to get in your pants.

I had my abortion because my mother felt I was too young for that responsibility. So I really didn't have a choice. My choice was made for me.

The atmosphere was so cold. My name was called, and I went into a room for "counseling.”  What a joke! I told the lady I didn't want to have the abortion, and she proceeded to tell me that I had to have it because it had already been paid for. I was taken to another room and made to strip down and put on a white gown. I lay there and watched as my baby's blood and tissue was sucked out of me and went into a canister to my left. I was just numb!

When I was in nursing school in 1999, I was given a pamphlet from the National Memorial For The Unborn. I put it inside of my anatomy book and didn't look at it. When the time came, I went up into the attic, found that pamphlet, and sent off for information. I bought a plaque to put on their wall. I go there from time to time to pay my respects to all the babies that have been aborted. This has been the greatest healing experience for me.

Thirty eight years later and that day is still emblazoned in my mind as if it were yesterday. I want everyone to know my story and know that you do not forget having an abortion. Regardless of what some people say, the decision to have an abortion has consequences, unless you have no conscience.

God knows I've regretted this decision. I've asked Him to forgive me more times over the years than was necessary. He knows my heart and I finally know I've been forgiven.

These babies need a voice. These young girls need to know there are options. These babies have a soul and are far more important than the whales, eagles, dogs, or other animals people get up in arms over protecting.

With the Planned Parenthood in the news so much these days and all the animal rights activists putting more value on animals than human life, I've decided I will be silent no more!
